What is an Indian eVisa?
An Indian eVisa is an electronic travel authorization issued by the Indian government to nationals of India for travelling to countries in the Schengen Area. The visa allows its holder to remain in the Schengen Area for a period of up to 90 days and may be used at any of the Schengen Area’s member states, including those who are not part of the European Union. Nationals of other participating countries who hold an Indian eVisa may also use it to travel to any Schengen Area country.
To obtain an Indian eVisa, applicants must first submit an online application form and pay a visa fee. After submitting their application, applicants will receive a confirmation notification that they have been approved for a visa. If applicants have failed to meet any eligibility criteria or if their visa has been refused, they will be notified of this and given the opportunity to appeal the decision.
If applicants are travelling as part of a group, each member of the group must apply for their own individual Indian eVisa. If applicants are travelling as part of a tour group, then the tour operator must apply on behalf of all members of the group. How to get an Indian eVisa?
If you are traveling to India for tourism, business, or any other purpose, you will need an Indian eVisa. You can apply online or at an Indian embassy or consulate. You will need the following information to apply: your passport number, your visa type (tourist, business, student), and your dates of travel. If you are visiting family in India, you do not need a visa.

You will be required to present your passport when applying for an Indian eVisa. If you are departing from an airport other than an international airport in India (for example, Mumbai), then you will also be required to show your airline ticket and boarding pass when applying for your Indian eVisa at the airport. Failure to do so may result in delays in processing your application and/or denied entry into India.
Exit India with an Indian eVisa
If you are leaving India on an international flight, your passport will be stamped at the airport. You will need to present your passport and boarding pass to immigration when exiting the country. If you are departing from a designated Indian eVisa port, you will not be required to present your passport or boarding pass. However, please note that if you depart from any other port in India, you may be required to present your passport and boarding pass for verification.
If you are departing from an international airport outside of India, please check with the airline or travel agent about whether they require you to carry a visa for your destination country. Most airlines only require a valid visa for countries in Western Europe, North America and South Asia.
