What is an Indian Visa?
If you are a citizen of India and you are traveling to South Africa, or if you are a citizen of Switzerland and you are travelling to India, you will need an Indian visa. There are two types of Indian visas that you may need: an ordinary Indian visa and a tourist visa. The difference between the two is that a tourist visa allows you to stay in India for up to six months while an ordinary Indian visa only allows you to stay in India for 30 days.
To get an Indian visa, you will first need to apply for it through your embassy or consulate in your home country. After applying, your embassy or consulate will send your application to the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The MHA will then decide whether or not to grant you a visa based on the information in your application.
Once the MHA has granted you a visa, they will send it to the South African Department of Home Affairs (DHA). The DHA will then send it to the South African Immigration Services (SAS) so that you can get a travel document called an International Travel Document (ITD). The ITD is valid for 6 months from the date that it is issued and must be shown when traveling to India.
There are some things that you should know before applying for an Indian visa. First, make sure that you have all of the required documents ready when applying. These documents include your passport photo, your application form, and any other documentation. Indian Visa for SWISS Citizens

Types of Indian Visas
The Indian government offers a number of visas to foreigners who wish to travel to India. These visas include tourist, business, student, and employment visas. The tourist visa is the most common type of visa and is valid for 30 days. The other types of visas are valid for different lengths of time and require different documents from the applicant.
To obtain a visa, the applicant must first apply online or at an embassy or consulate in their home country. Applicants must provide their passport ID number, national identification number, name and date of birth as well as other required information. Foreigners who have visited India within the past six months do not need to apply for a visa but must still have a valid passport from their home country.
Once all required information has been submitted, applicants will receive an approval letter in the mail or online which they must bring with them when applying for the visa at the Indian embassy or consulate. If all requirements are met, applicants will be issued a visa which they can use when arriving in India. Foreigners who are not citizens of any Schengen countries may need to obtain an e-visa before arriving in India.
Visa extensions can be obtained by using the same application process as initial application but must provide additional documentation such as proof of rent payments or income levels. A fee is charged for each extension request and validity periods vary depending on the type of visa being requested.
